Making Date Sugar

Hello there! I’ve just made date sugar for some pumpkin bread, and wow, does it have a powerful flavor! Use about half the amount of normal sugar in a recipe.

With help from http://www.thekitchenwhisperer.net/tag/make-your-own-date-sugar/

1. Clean, pitted dates

2. Oven- 425 F, 10-20 minutes, until rock hard

3. Cool

4. Use a very powerful food processor or spice/coffee grinder. Process until a powder forms.

5. Add a pinch or two of GF flour (corn starch, rice flour, etc) and mix with each batch to keep from clumping. It will want to fight you and stick to the mixer.Image

6. Store in air-tight container. Success!
